Senate Republicans are bringing in Mitchell, also a Republican, to question both Kavanaugh and his first accuser at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing Thursday.

He says that both "they and their families have received vile threats" which are "unacceptable and a poor reflection on the state of civility in our democracy". "I can't tell you".

Anita Hill, who testified before the U.S. Senate 27 years ago about the alleged sexual harassment she faced from a U.S. Supreme Court nominee, does not compare her situation to Christine Blasey Ford's.

The Colorado accusation took up one moment in an hour-long phone interview between Kavanaugh and Judiciary Committee lawyers on Tuesday. Judge is a boyhood friend of Kavanaugh who has written a book describing the debauchary of his high school years. "My responsibility is to tell the truth".

An official at a nonprofit working to end sexual and domestic violence describes an Arizona prosecutor set to question Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh about sexual assault allegations as straightforward.

Here are all the ways to watch the Brett Kavanaugh hearing. But I was not ideal in those days, just as I am not flawless today. I drank one beer that evening. Sometimes I had too many.

Gaithersburg High School said that Swetnick said she graduated in 1980 and that the school would not have any other statements. "I have firm recollection of seeing boys lined up outside rooms at many of these parties waiting for their "turn" with a girl inside the room", she says in a sworn declaration.

And on Wednesday a new woman came forward with explosive allegations, saying she witnessed sexually abusive behaviour by Kavanaugh when he was a teenager and claiming she was gang-raped at a party he attended in the early 1980s.

It was also disclosed on Wednesday that Senate investigators were investigating a fourth allegation against Kavanaugh made anonymously. I denied the allegation immediately, unequivocally, and categorically. I have been accused of acting out of partisan political motives. If confirmed by the Senate, Kavanaugh is expected to push the high court further to the right with his life-time appointment.

Critics including Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer say he should withdraw from consideration, or that his nomination vote should be delayed.

While Mr Trump pledged to listen to the testimony of Mr Kavanaugh's accuser and even said he was open to changing his mind about his nominee, he made clear that he was deeply sceptical of these types of accusations. The network reports that Senate Judiciary Committee investigators placed a call to Kavanaugh about the accusations on September 25 and he denied the encounter. Democrats plan to ask their own questions of the witnesses. But Thursday's hearing will only feature Ford and Kavanaugh, who will each be questioned by Rachel Mitchell, a prosecutor now on leave from the Maricopa County Attorney's Office. There are four women who serve on the committee on the Democratic side.
