Jose Mourinho: 'Nuno Espirito Santo deserves his chance in Premier League'

"I want him to play totally fresh". "You have to adapt, you have to respect, you have to be humble and recognise you are in the face of a strong team, but you can not be changed or fear".

There have been three or more goals in five of United's six games to date in all competitions this season but I'm not convinced we're going to witness a free-scoring affair here.

"You see the level of the teams - you see Liverpool's squad, Manchester City's squad, Chelsea's squad, Tottenham's squad, and Arsenal are improving". Rojo did play for the U23's last week but is still not ready for first team action just yet.

Jose Mourinho has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference today and he's provided a team news and injury update ahead of the game.

Before the game, Mourinho had urged his team to follow the example of Swiss tennis great Roger Federer and show they were capable of winning on different surfaces. "If you change it doesn't make sense, no matter who you play", he said. All of them, they can say the same thing.

United's performance was not as dominant as the 3-0 scoreline suggests, however, two goals and an assist from captain on the night Paul Pogba was enough to secure all three points.

Pressed on whether the 29-year-old needed to raise his game.

"Sanchez plays because Martial played 90 minutes [against Young Boys] and Sanchez played zero", Mourinho explained on Friday. "Every player has another level to step up".

The 44-year-old featured under Mourinho at Porto during his playing days, and his former manager has praised the path that the ex-goalkeeper has taken on the way to arriving in England.

United have recovered from back-to-back defeats to Brighton and Tottenham in August to move back towards the top of the table.

Both teams go into tomorrow's Old Trafford clash with back-to-back Premier League victories.

"I think good results, good performances, they make miracles and bad results and bad performances, they make you look more exhausted, more upset, more ugly, more everything", Mourinho said. Football is a little bit like this.

"He came for €100m, you factor in United pay a premium but I don't see much difference from when he turned up".

"Very far from the problems that a team normally has coming from the Championship".
