In reality, it's not likely to be on shelves this year but Samsung might preview it at the Samsung Developer Conference in November in San Francisco.

Samsung has also said that the folding phone will use a foldable screen, not just a display hinge like the one in this funky prototype.

Koh didn't directly divulge when the Samsung foldable phone would actually be available to for purchase, though he had previously castoff fuzzy indications that it could be in fourth quarter of the year or in 2019.

There has been a lot of deliberation regarding the launch of Samsung's first foldable smartphone and all rumours had pointed to an early 2019 release. CEO of mobile communications has recognized that although the process of developing "complex", the company "almost completed" it.

As for how it will work, Koh said you'll be able to carry out most tasks while the device is folded up.

We clearly have to wait during the next four months to see what all of this is really about. "When you need to browse or see something, then you may need to unfold it", he said. Is this the Galaxy F, Samsung's first foldable display smartphone that we've been hearing about for quite some time now? The CEO, however, stated while the device in its unfolded state reveals a bigger display which mimics a tablet in most respects, it would still offer an experience quite different from a tablet.

"Every device, every feature, every innovation should have a meaningful message to our end-customer". It seems both the tech has reached the point where it's possible, and the company says it has done consumer surveys that prove the market is interested in this type of phone. It's generally accepted that they will use a foldable display, as opposed to repeating existing "foldable" Smartphones that have floundered. Unlike the flip phones, this device has an actual screen that bends. That's why the Korean giant wants to embed functionalities that will make customers realize that the form factor lets them do things that were unimaginable on other devices.
