City's quest to achieve this feat begins with a tough away fixture against Arsenal who will be rejuvenated by Unai Emery's appointment.

David Silva could be a question mark for Sunday's fixture as well.

Watch a preview of the Arsenal vs. Manchester City English Premier League opening weekend featured match in the video below, courtesy of NBC Sports. The wide man cut inside from the left wing and drilled the ball beyond the routed Czech goalkeeper on 14 minutes. He did just that in the first half with this opening goal, which proved to be the victor.

Cech bailed out his ailing team-mates by thwarting Aymeric Laporte at point-blank range having parried Riyad Mahrez's free-kick. In terms of preventing a City rout, the introduction of summer signing Stephan Lichtsteiner brought combativeness and intelligence that had been missing during the visitors' best period of the game.

"We wanted to show our performance but it is clear against Manchester City we could not give them this win".

Anyway, without further ramblings, how did the players do in this match?

Perhaps it was too much, too soon for a player who was an unused substitute in a Ligue 2 meeting between Lorient and Gazelec Ajaccio this time a year ago, but Lucas Torreira was not deemed fit enough to start and Emery is likely to be more concerned by the displays of some of Arsenal's senior players.

Arsenal still looked anxious and Cech nearly scored a freaky own goal when his miscued pass across the penalty area crept wide of his unguarded net.

Aaron Ramsey looks like a definite starter as part of the midfield two, and the Arsenal boss will make a late decision on his partner.

Centre-back Laurent Koscielny will miss the fixture as well.

Welbeck faces serious competition to get in the side in his usual forward position with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Henrikh Mkhitaryan all first-choice players in attacking positions.

And City, in their usual ruthless, unforgiving nature, would eventually punish the plethora of sloppy Arsenal play in the final third. Benjamin Mendy advanced down the left and squared for Bernardo Silva who thumped the ball into the top corner.

This can prove successful in helping Arsenal stifle Manchester City tomorrow. City are working three years with Guardiola, building a team with good players and great stability.

And the best thing for Guardiola is, this wasn't even the Champions at their best. Not only are Manchester City the title-holders, but they are still unquestionably the team to beat this season.
