Rudy Giuliani says Donald Trump team preparing report to counter Robert Mueller

So if Mueller finds evidence that the 2016 Trump campaign worked with a foreign power to sway the election, then conspiracy - not collusion - would be the charge.

Trump's new line of defence might be technically correct as even former FBI Director James Comey, whom Trump fired, said collusion "is not actually a thing that exists under the federal laws of the United States". "And why isn't Mueller looking at all of the criminal activity and real Russian collusion on the Democrats side-Podesta, Dossier?"

Throwing yet another spanner in the works, Giuliani called Fox News again on Monday, hours after his morning appearance, to admit that there was a meeting before the Trump Tower meeting to discuss strategy.

Legal experts say Giuliani and Trump have a point: There is no federal law or statue making campaign collusion a crime. "The president didn't hack". "We have complained to them that he's violated the attorney-client privilege, publicly and privately", Giuliani said.

"Collusion is not a crime, but that doesn't matter because there was No Collusion (except by Crooked Hillary and the Democrats)!".

"Collusion is not a crime", Chris Christie, the former New Jersey governor, said on ABC's "This Week".

"Colluding with foreigners to impact a USA election is a crime", explained MSNBC host Ari Melber Tuesday night. Mueller is also investigating the Trump campaign's ties to Russian Federation and whether Trump has obstructed justice.

The New York Times, in a January article detailing an attempt by Trump to fire Mueller a year ago that the President ultimately backed off from, said Trump claimed one of Mueller's conflicts stemmed from a dispute over fees at the Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia. The President has denied he knew about the meeting beforehand. "I look really scared".

I'd Meet with Him! .

Donald Trump Jr., who arranged the meeting on behalf of the campaign, has insisted for a year that he never informed his father about the meeting. "I will meet with anybody", Trump said, touting his previous two summits while bashing the coverage from the "fake news".

That's the meeting Cohen was referring to, Giuliani suggested, adding that he was coming out with this information to "get ahead" of a story that was about to be published.

Giuliani declined to say what the purported Trump-Mueller business relationship was and said it was up to Mueller to reveal it, even though Trump raised the issue with his Twitter comment. His tweet came as the first trial from Special Counsel Robert Mueller's "Russiagate" probe begins.

Giuliani took to the airwaves Monday to keep up the president's attacks on Mueller, who is heading the Russian Federation probe, and faulted him for failing to publicly buttress Trump's position regarding a leaked recording of a tape between Trump and his longtime lawyer Michael Cohen discussing a payment involving a former Playboy playmate.

Rudy Giuliani is purposely exchanging "Conspiracy" for "Collusion" to intertwine a legal term of art with a political one.

Giuliani insisted during numerous television interviews that no evidence of collusion existed, but the evolving narrative is a sign of how much Trump and his aides have had to recalibrate their public message in the face of considerable evidence of contacts between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign, and with the special counsel investigating what - if anything - Trump knew about them.

Trump has long maintained there was "no collusion" between the Kremlin and his campaign. I mean, he is under serious investigation for a wide variety of crimes.
