DeRozan posted a lengthy thank-you note to the city of Toronto and Raptors fans on his Instagram account on Saturday afternoon, four days after he was traded to the San Antonio Spurs.

Raptors President Masai Ujiri was apologetic on Friday, admitting that he may have inadvertently misled the team's franchise player. "We were fourth on the ranks (to land Kawhi), I didn't see anywhere the talks were going-maybe I should have handled it, you know, better". "So, not necessarily talking about a trade but what I expect from him going forward, and I think that's where the gap was". Well, unfortunately for Toronto it does not seem likely Leonard will want to stay with the Raptors.

Robinson said that he believes Spurs coach Gregg Popovich and general manager R.C. Buford have done a good job at preparing the Spurs for the future. If there was a miscommunication there, I do apologize to DeMar and his family and his representation.

But he said he regretted perhaps indicating to DeRozan that he wouldn't be traded.

According to a report from Jeff McDonald of San Antonio Express-News, Leonard and those who traveled with him grew jealous of how some all-stars used private luxury cars for their excursions while others used standard transportation provided by the National Basketball Association.

If they'd approached him as a free agent next summer, the chances of Toronto getting a meeting with the 26-year-old would've been slim. Whatever was said, Ujiri realizes he probably could have communicated with the team's former star in a more direct fashion.

As for the Raptors, a healthy Leonard teaming up with Kyle Lowry certainly has potential, but also very risky for a team that was already facing pressure parting ways with Dwane Casey this offseason, despite finishing with the best record in the Eastern Conference during the regular season. I mean, people criticize us for sitting guys down.

Leonard was knocked out of the 2017 playoffs because of the injury and went on to play in just nine games in the 2017-18 season because of the injury. Ujiri said the player "didn't express a lack of interest to play in Canada to me".
