At least 10, including a child, shot in Toronto: Canadian media

The shooter has been confirmed dead.

It's reported there are at least five victims but it's unclear if there's been any fatalities.

CBS News says the shooter is no longer active and the victims are being sent to local hospitals.

An unknown number of people are being treated at the scene.

A local reporter, Jeremy Chohn, tweeted "victims are spread across many blocks".

Jody Steinhauer was at Christina's restaurant on the Danforth with her family when she heard what sounded like 10 to 15 blasts of firecrackers.

'We started to hear people scream out front, ' Steinhauer said.

Toronto EMS Deputy Commander Shawn Staff said they are dealing with "several high acuity critically injured patients, including one child".

Witnesses are being taken from the scene by bus to be interviewed at nearby police stations. Police also appealed to eye witness' to provide any information about the shooting.
