Joe Hart to start for Manchester City against Borussia Dortmund

Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has given his verdict on star winger Leroy Sane missing out on the 2018 FIFA World Cup ahead of the new season.

Jorginho was tipped to make the move to City, however, the Italy global midfielder opted to reunite with former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea.

"We tried, but at the end all my advice for the players is that they have to go where they want to go".

"English football receives an exceptional player".

Although, admittedly, he might benefit from a loan move to a lower calibre Premier League club, he exhibited glimpses of his best last term and it is perceptible why Guardiola wants to hold onto him.

Hart is back at City after unsuccessful loan spells at Torino and West Ham.

Hart, who has been with City since 2006, has one year left on his contract with the club.

The 31-year-old, having missed out on a place in England's World Cup squad, was included in the City squad for their pre-season tour in the United States.

"Joe is our player".

Guardiola is prepared for Hart to "stay here" if no acceptable offer materialises. But Guardiola is philosophical about his preparations for the start of the season despite the Premier League opener against Arsenal on August 12, two weeks after their return. We will try and find solution for him.

"I am not disappointed", said Guardiola.

"We will try to go back to basics and see our intention for the new season - to try to beat everybody like last season".

"I know it is not easy for him what happened in the last period, but he's with us and tomorrow he's going to play".

"I really hope that it is a good fit for the game over here and I will certainly be doing everything I can to make sure it works out".

"He's one of the most incredible professionals, I've ever met".
