The denuclearization of Korea covers not just nuclear bombs but also missiles, he said, adding North Korean officials also understand that.

But no details were announced on how or when the reclusive state would dismantle its nuclear program, and Pompeo said he would aim to "fill in" details on the Singapore agreement.

"The results of the talks can't be but so apprehensive", an English version of the KCNA report read.

On her government's decision to suspend major combined military drills with the US, she said it's aimed at facilitating the denuclearization process. Trump has used "Rocket Man" as a nickname for Kim beginning past year, in a mocking reference to North Korea's frequent missile tests. North Korea policy should never come at the expense of the broader US strategy in Asia.

The regime castigated the US for pressuring the regime to comply with complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization, also known as CVID, without ever mentioning the establishment of a peace regime on the Korean Peninsula, an indication that both countries had different priorities entering the high-level talks.

On the trustworthiness issue, he said, "There will be a verification connected to the complete denuclearization".

In his first remarks about the challenging weekend talks, Trump suggested that China, North Korea's chief ally, might be interfering in reaction to the Trump administration's stance on US-China trade.

"We had expected that the USA side would offer constructive measures that would help build trust based on the spirit of the leaders' summit ... we were also thinking about providing reciprocal measures", it said. That apparently did not happen. Roy Blunt said Sunday in an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press".

Trump made similar accusations in May, noting that North Korea's previously conciliatory tone towards the scheduled summit between Kim and Trump seemed to change overnight following Kim's meeting with Chinese communist leader Xi Jinping in Dalian, China. "We agreed to the denuclearization of North Korea".

The North openly expressed disappointment over what he put forward during a hourslong bargaining with Kim Yong-chol, a top North Korean official, on Thursday and Friday. "There's many hours left in negotiations", Pompeo said in response to a question from a coalition soldier during a visit to Afghanistan. "Some places a great deal of progress, other places there's still more work to be done", he continued.

"Now that he sees the country is a nuclear state, Kim Jong Un is fully committed to pump up the economy", Kim said in the interview on June 29.

Today President Trump said he is confident Kim will ultimately honor the contract they signed in Singapore, but is watching China's behavior behind the scenes. In its statement Saturday, the North envisaged "simultaneous" steps by the two sides and a declaration on ending the 1950-53 Korean War, for which a peace treaty was never signed.
