In a bit of a shocker out of San Antonio, former two-time Defensive Player of the Year Kawhi Leonard reportedly wants out from the Spurs. Leonard would like most to be traded to Los Angeles, preferably the Lakers, Wojnarowski reported Friday.

Leonard was out for most of the season due to a quad injury, while the team said publicly that he was cleared to play.

The San Antonio Express-News and ESPN.com were the first to report the 26-year-old Leonard's desire to leave the Spurs, with each citing unnamed sources. Leonard is eligible for a supermax contract extension this offseason that he can only sign with the Spurs.

When players the caliber of George and Leonard hit the market, almost every contender considers the possibility of a trade because of the impact they can have on an organization.

NEW POWERHOUSE? Kawhi Leonard may end up with the LA Lakers, which can assemble a new superteam with incoming free agents LeBron James and Paul George also linked to join the glamour squad.

Kawhi Leonard #2 of the San Antonio Spurs faces off against Kosta Koufos #41 of the Sacramento Kings on October 27, 2016 at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California.

Additionally, it's possible Leonard and the Spurs could settle their differences before the National Basketball Association draft Thursday and he could sign an extension in the coming weeks.

If Leonard does become available in trade talks, the Boston Celtics will be interested in probing the Spurs about a deal, league sources told Wojnarowski.

That is the prediction of New York Times' NBA insider Marc Stein, who appeared on the Dan Le Batard show this week to give his insight into what is expected to be a blockbuster summer of moves around the league. They could still make the offer to Leonard before honoring his wishes for a trade. And as exciting as this trade may be, these three things must happen for the Lakers to seriously consider trading for Kawhi Leonard.

The Los Angles Clippers are another team that interests Leonard.

There were signs of strain in the relationship this past season while Leonard was sidelined.
