The president is still considering pardoning lifestyle maven Martha Stewart, who was convicted in an insider trading case, and commuting the sentence of former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, now serving a 14-year prison sentence on felony corruption charges, along with several others, the White House official told Reuters. Johnson screamed, Kardashian recalled.

The unlikely duo first met in May to discuss commuting Johnson's life sentence.

At an emotional reunion with her family outside an Alabama prison, the former prisoner thanked Mr Trump and Kardashian West, saying she was "free to live life and free to start over". "Because there are so many, as you've said, like me, who need to have the opportunity that I've had", she told GMA's Michael Strahan. "This moment right now is happening because President Trump had mercy on me", she said.

Kardashian also asked President Donald Trump's daughter for a meeting with her father, Kardashian said, recounting her role in President Trump's decision to grant Johnson clemency.

"She may have simply noticed the video or learn an article or no matter and simply stated oh that is a disgrace or no matter and went on along with her life, however she did not, she selected to get entangled in a serious manner", Johnson stated of Kardashian. "So I just was like, 'Wait, she doesn't know?' And Alice was like, 'Know what?' And I was like, 'You're going home'".

The 37-year-old beauty - who voted for Trump's rival Hillary Clinton in the presidential campaign in 2016 - was surprised by how nice and understanding the president was. The 1994 indictment describes dozens of deliveries and drug transactions, many involving Johnson.

But now, after 22 years, Alice is set for freedom thanks to Kim Kardashian.

The decision follows a visit to the White House last week from Kim Kardashian West, who championed clemency for Johnson. Ivanka Trump was one of the first people she reached out to about Johnson's case, Kardashian told CNN's Van Jones on Thursday. "I promise you President Trump, I will make you proud that you gave me that second chance".

"Despite receiving a life sentence, Alice worked hard to rehabilitate herself in prison, and act as a mentor to her fellow inmates".

Tretessa Johnson, Scales' sister, said she always thought she'd greet her mother the moment she walked out of prison.

Johnson has already served 21 years of a life sentence after she was convicted on charges of conspiracy to possess cocaine and attempted possession of cocaine, according to the nonprofit Can-Do, which advocates for clemency for non-violent drug offenders.
