With the Real Madrid superstar now 33, the upcoming tournament in Russian Federation is likely to be his final chance at winning a World Cup while at the peak of his career. Gareth Bale was the first person to declare he might leave following the victory, one where he had a starring role, but Real Madrid are now confident they will be able to keep Bale at the club.

United will have to part with a tonne of cash if a return to Old Trafford ever materialises for Ronaldo and at 33, this is surely the last possibility of that happening.

Reports in AS claim that Ronaldo is one of the few current Madrid stars who does not like the idea of Neymar arriving, as he is annoyed at the club spending €350 million on a new player when they can not find the money to improve his contract.

Reports in Spain claim Ronaldo does not entertain the idea of the Brazilian joining him at the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid are set to splash the cash this summer with club president Florentino Perez targeting a host of marquee signings.

Ronaldo has a place in the list's top three for a sixth successive year, while Neymar has moved 13 places to fifth after his €222 million move with PSG in 2017.

Portugal upset the odds in their last worldwide tournament by beating hosts France 1-0 in the final of the 2016 European Championships.

But according to Marca, Madrid have told Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes that they are unwilling to match the player's demands.

It'll probably end up with Ronaldo signing a bumper new deal as the whole situation bears a lot of similarities to the summer of Euro 2016 when Ronaldo played up a move before the tournament.

Ronaldo posted a photograph on his twitter account wearing the No. 7 jersey with the message: "The world is watching".
