Pokemon Let's Go Will Feature One Brand New Pokemon

During a surprise press conference in Japan on Wednesday morning, The Pokemon Company announced a few new games in the Pokemon franchise.

Pokemon Let's Go will come out on November 16th.

When viewing the Pokemon Let's Go trailer, it's quickly obvious that Game Freak turned to the Pokemon Go mobile games for inspiration.

Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee are created to be a player's first Pokemon game, according to Game Freak's Junichi Masuda.

In-keeping with recent rumours, the games will take place in the Kanto region (the setting of the original 1996 games) and represent a full 3D reimagining of 1998's Pokemon Yellow, which allowed players to buddy up with the iconic electric rat Pikachu. One of the smartest aspects of Wednesday's announcement is the introduction of the 4,980 yen ($46) Pokeball, an accessory for the Switch that mimics an important component of gameplay (it's used to catch and store Pokemon). However, Pokemon now appear wandering around the map; instead of hiding in long grass like they normally do in these sorts of games.

This new side-game puts the player in direct control of their preferred Pokemon, and seems to revolve around fighting other types using the attacks we all know and love. We will keep you updated on the matter as soon as possible, so stay tuned for all the latest news.

The new games retain the turn-based battle system of traditional Pokemon games, and you'll get experience points both for catching Pokemon and participating in battles.

An "all-new core series" Pokemon RPG is also in development, due out in the second half of next year.
