Spectators (18,624) filled the arena and millions around the world watched on TV.

The victor of the series will face either the Cleveland Cavaliers or Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals.

Then Gilbert looked to make a point that how his organization is viewed - as a chaotic, sometimes volatile enterprise - could actually be something that makes his team better on the biggest stage. "That it's going to end in the finals is really fantastic, it really is", forward Kyle Korver said in the Cavs' locker room on Sunday night.

Boston made the mistake of using the three pointer as their main offensive weapon down the stretch but they finished a dismal seven-of-39 overall from beyond the arc. It was the first time the road team won in this series and the first time the Celtics had lost at home all playoffs.

James has reached the NBA Finals in eight straight seasons, including four in a row with Cleveland.

Then came one of their trademark third-quarter surges. Don't be shocked if he starts Game 7 for Golden State. Boston was 2-for-13 shooting during that stretch.

They secured an 87-79 victory at TD Garden on Sunday night to be crowned champions of the east once again. "The great quote from the great Doc Rivers is, 'You always want to go into the Game 7 with the best player, ' and we have the best player on our team going into a Game 7". He is also now 14-9 in elimination games.

For Tatum, James' approval and encouragement meant a lot.

George Hill and J.R. Smith were scoreless in the first quarter. Except, this time the Rockets did a much better job of turning those misses and turnovers into transition points (the Rockets averaged two points per possession on the break in the first half). "He just got four minutes for the first time in six weeks".

After the game, he was understandably exhausted.

James' Herculean effort allowed the Cavs to beat a young but gritty Boston side in their thrilling 7-game series yesterday. And that glowing future is highlighted by the postseason play of rookie Jayson Tatum. Though Love didn't have a great series against the Celtics, he provided a scoring threat for which Boston had to account. He finished his postseason with 351 points, the second-highest total in National Basketball Association history.

Tatum hit a 3-pointer after his driving dunk over James put Boston up 72-71 with 6:04 remaining in the game, but Green answered with another trey at the 5:44 mark, and Cleveland didn't relinquish the lead after that. He lived up to the moment. "I'm going to continue going to the basket, continue to try to finish strong and we'll see what happens". He had 17 points. There are a few ways to counter a switching defense and one is a creative ballhandler who can still make plays - not just isolation plays, but who can create a little space and find guys moving off the ball despite the pressure.

How much help does he need?
