Bravo on CSK's IPL title win: ‘This is a special moment’

"Teams win games, but finals are won by individuals", MS Dhoni had quipped on the eve of the IPL final between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

This is the team's third IPL trophy. In all the excitement of spending a good Sunday while watching the finals of IPL, actor Rishi Kapoor took to Twitter and has come out with an entertaining breakthrough of the IPL theme song. But hats off to Shane Watson. However, quick dismissals of the set batsmen saw the SRH innings slump big time. In the eliminator, Carlos Brathwaite had struck the ball cleanly in a 43 not out off 29 balls.

Super Kings struck an early blow when Shreevats Goswami was run out. He hasn't scored big in the last two matches and is due for a big score. That put pressure on Faf du Plessis (10) who perished in the process of trying to up the ante. Watson scored his fourth IPL ton and his second in the season.

Watson's ton helped Chennai claim their third IPL title. Raina got out for 32 off 24 balls.

The Baroda batsman's unbeaten innings contained four boundaries and a couple of hits into the stands. Ambati Rayudu had joined Shane Watson. After a quiet outing in the previous game, Rayudu was keen on finishing things on a high. Modern cricket demands that.

Rashid Khan has again impressed the cricket world after helping to drive his team, Sunrisers Hyderabad into the Indian Premier League (IPL) finals on Friday night.

But the journey to the finals for both the teams wasn't an easy one.

Dwayne Bravo seems to have lost his charm with the ball as the season progressed. Kaul had gone at a smart economy rate of 6.45, gained a reputation as one of the most effective death bowlers and got a call-up to India's ODI and T20I squads for the tour of England. He was taken away for as many as 46 runs in the four overs that he bowled.

Their middle and lower order have not really been firing barring the odd game. Opener Sunil Narine looked in great touch as he plundered 26 off 13 before getting dismissed in 3.2 overs. The principal reason for selecting Karn this time was that Super Kings wanted a legspinner in their side. Chahar continued his good form on the day. CSK knows exactly the position they are in, they know how much is at stake and they know how to get there and that would be the advantage that CSK would have over Sunrisers Hyderabad tonight. Despite that, he managed to restrict the run flow.

With du Plessis and Bravo too in the mix, along with Ravindra Jadeja, Harbhajan Singh and Shardul Thakur with the ability to play cameos, the batting looks formidable. Overall, Bhuvneshwar ended with figures of zero wickets by giving 17 runs in four overs.

After 11 overs, Super Kings were in control, needing 84 to win off nine overs with nine wickets in hand. Ngidi even bowled a maiden in his first spell. But by then Narine and Lynn (48 off 31) had already done the initial damage as they went hammer and tongs against the Sunrisers bowlers from the word go. His overs are hard for any batsman, to say the least, and the Men in Yellow will be wary about the four overs that he would be bowling tonight.
