For those of you keeping score at home, Daimler and Mercedes-Benz have just announced the availability later this year of the Mercedes AMG GT S roadster.

Roadster Mercedes-AMG GT S Roadster received the package AMG Chrome.

Those figures are enough to see the auto reach 100km/h from stand still in just 3.8 seconds before topping out at 308km/h - and remember, this one isn't even the fastest variant.

The Mercedes- AMG GT S Roadster is on sale now and deliveries will begin in August.

The standalone AMG range of cars has only been with us for five minutes, but this - the new AMG GT S Roadster - represents the tenth version of an AMG vehicle you can buy. With the new AMG GT S Roadster, the company is extending its AMG portfolio as the new sportscar comes with lightweight aluminum spaceframe, a V8 bi-turbo engine, a 7-speed DCT, a rear-axle locking differential and a sport suspension with aluminum double wishbone axles.

However, AMG has now decided that it is a gap worth plugging.

Power for the GT S Roadster is supplied by a 4-litre V8 biturbo petrol engine, producing 522hp - 46 more than the AMG GT version - and 670Nm of torque.

AMG's GT model range now includes 12 models, including three versions of the new GT 4-Door Coupé (which is actually more technically related to the E-class) and two customer racing models. AMG says they share performance times despite this. However, the rear-steer system can be added through the options list, provided you specify the Dynamic Plus Package. The brand has not revealed any details about the new GT S Roadster coming to the country.

Inside, Artico artificial leather and Dynamica microfibre make up the upholstery, while the steering wheel has a touch of Nappa leather.
