The undefeated Kazakh middleweight world champion Gennady Golovkin vows to entertain fans on Cinco de Mayo with a true Mexican-Style performance in front of a packed Stub Hub arena against challenger Vanes Martirosyan.

Both Golovkin, born in Kazakhstan, and Martirosyan, born in Armenia, fight out of Southern California.

But Golovkin began to press the action more in Round 2, using his jab to set up his power punches.

In his last fight he fought to a Draw against Canelo Alvarez, the two were scheduled to fight on May 5th, but due to testing positive for the banned substance clenbuterol, Canelo was forced to step down. He comes not having fought in nearly two years and lost two of his last three fights, to Erislandy Lara and Jermell Charlo. Alvarez ended up failing random drug tests in February and ultimately withdrew from the fight. "It was the hardest I have ever been hit". I want to have as many fights as possible.

In the post fight interview GGG said that he is willing to fight anyone division and that he simply wants to stay active and clean it out.

Alvarez will return from his six-month suspension on August 17, which would make him eligible to fight GGG in September.

Golovkin has attempted for years to hold all four major belts simultaneously, and he has been the WBA, WBC and IBF champion since 2015.

Undeniably the fight of Martirosyan's life, critics are measuring the fact that Vanes has not fought in two years against GGG's advanced age to predict who they think will win in Golovkin vs Martirosyan.

Despite Saturday's main event coming together at the last minute, it was always going to be a hugely important match for Golovkin, as it was his 20th consecutive defense of his world championship titles.

Golovkin like he's done so often in the past soaked the punishment up as if it was nothing and then proceeded to unload his truck like sweet science artillery that left his opponent face down, out for the count and in a bloody heap. Bellew was only a light-heavyweight when Haye was at the peak of his career as the World Boxing Association heavyweight champion.

All of the information you need to catch Golovkin vs. Martirosyan from the opening bout can be seen below. "I see why he's trying to get that extra edge", said Martirosyan, referencing Alvarez's failed drug test in March.

While discussing his boxing career, Golovkin, A.K.A. GGG, 36, reflected on what boxing means to him. "We made a lot more concessions than the other side did", Golovkin adds.
