Twitter Deepens Sports Content With ESPN

Disney is one of a number of media companies that will be making original content specifically for Twitter, as part of a number of new partnerships.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

NBCUniversal, part of Comcast Corp., agreed to distribute live video and clips on Twitter through its media properties, including NBC News, MSNBC and E!

Madati added: "In the past year, we've really expanded our efforts with the best publishers and content creators in the world to bring a slate of programming that reflects those diverse content interests".

Bloomberg has the details on Twitter's new content deal. The series will feature behind-the-scenes content teasing and leading up to the event.

ESPN, the Disney-owned sports entertainment network will be planning a Twitter version of its SportsCenter news and analysis show and a live-stream of its Fantasy Focus Live podcast will also be available on the platform. Through the Creator Originals program, Twitter will debut series from creators including Josh Peck, Sara Hopkins and Brittany Sky. In addition to the recently announced weekly live stream MLB game and highlights package, MLB will live stream a brand-new show on Twitter around the MLB All-Star Game and Postseason. F1 plans to produce a live post-race show exclusively on Twitter and hosted by broadcaster Will Buxton.

Get The Latest Sports Tech News In Your Inbox! The new format will also allow fantasy fans to ask questions using Twitter's live tools. In cutting its new video deals, the company almost doubled its number of video shows, from 16 to 30.

Bleacher Report: House of Highlights, which already boasts millions of followers, is airing on Twitter with a reinvented show on sports highlights.

Twitter's stock rose as much as 5% to session highs in trading after the announcement.

The platform also shared the launch of Live Brand Studio, a service that helps companies build live videos. Online Brand Studio - a programme for creating live content for marketing - will be rolled out soon.

"To innovate at this scale with The Walt Disney Company is a huge step forward in expanding the depth and breadth of video content we offer to leaned in, engaged consumers on Twitter", Twitter Global Vice President of Revenue and Content Partnerships Matthew Derella said in a press release.

Digital Content NewFronts continues through May 4 in New York City, an event created to connect content creators with big brands.
