THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (AP) - The Los Angeles Rams have been aggressive in making trades and signing free agents this offseason, which gave them the flexibility to be patient with their first and only draft pick through the first two days of the National Football League draft. He also lost his job as the punt returner and was utilized primarily as a decoy.

Kiser won the 2017 Campbell Trophy, also known as the academic Heisman.

Building offensive line and linebacker/pass rushing depth were the Rams' main goals going into the draft, and those themes played out.

"They see me as an edge guy who can do linebacker things", Okoronkwo said.

Micah Kiser led the ACC in tackles in each of the last three seasons, and he had a career-high 145 previous year. Earlier this year took Kiser took part in the NFL Combine and was invited to play in the 2018 Senior Bowl. "I felt like it was a great fit and I'm so happy to be a Ram and glad that they chose me".

"When I got the call, tears started dropping out", Okoronkwo told reporters Saturday.

Given the loss of linebackers Robert Quinn (trade) and Connor Barwin (free agency), the Rams had a clear need for a pass rusher, and might have landed a high-ceiling player in Okoronkwo. "I'm all about the team and I'm just a football player".

Two other area players may get drafted or signed as free agents - Bucknell defensive lineman Abdullah Anderson (Absegami) and Villanova linebacker Ed Shockley (Millville). Howard can provide added depth at inside linebacker. Throughout the draft, general manager Les Snead made bringing in several promising, young linemen a priority - hoping to develop them under veteran players like Andrew Whitworth and John Sullivan.
