Barcelona were confirmed as Spanish champions for the seventh time in the last 10 seasons last night after beating Deportivo La Coruna 4-2 in front of their faithfuls.

A routine victory looked on the cards from the moment Philippe Coutinho finished Ousmane Dembele's pass, and Messi scored a 30th league goal of the campaign from Luis Suarez's sensational assist to double the lead.

Deportivo pulled one closer with a goal by Lucas Perez in the 40th minute and equalized with Emre Colak's shot from inside the area in the 64th. Having Messi and Suarez up top doesn't hurt either, and now they're looking even more unsafe than before with Coutinho getting more consistent minutes.

Messi then struck twice in the final 10 minutes to seal the win.

Ernesto Valverde's side are bidding to go through the league season unbeaten and went into the game 12 points clear of Atletico Madrid, and a further four clear of Real Madrid.

"It was a very special league win because we didn't lose a game".

When asked what Lopez's secret was following Friday's win at home to Sevilla, Morales said it was simple, "he told us to go out and enjoy ourselves".

The only disappointment will be that Valverde's side failed to make a major impact on the Champions League this season.

There is nothing worse than being forgotten, which is what it felt like for Spanish forward Gerard Deulofeu when Barcelona did not include his name on their commemorative shirt after clinching the La Liga title. "We've had some tough times and we've overcome everything without losing, which is unbelievable". "There are no words when you receive so much love from people and even more so in hard moments for them [given Deportivo's relegation]".

Going unbeaten will be one hell of an achievement but it's certainly not going to be easy with the latest El Clasico on the horizon.

"This feels good. The championship is a competition that lasts all year, it is about consistency and the team deserved this title", said Iniesta. "We only lost once in the Cup (against Espanyol) and in Roma where we had a very unexpected result", Messi added.

Andres Iniesta Iniesta will bid farewell to Barcelona after 22 years with a La Liga-Copa del Rey double.
