Armando Juarez, 29, was arrested by Dallas police following a brief chase and was taken into custody at about 9 p.m., WFAA-TV in Dallas reported.

Two Dallas police officers and a home improvement store employee are out of surgery after being shot while escorting a man from the store.

The Dallas Police confirmed earlier in the evening that the two officer were in critical condition.

A civilian was also wounded, the department said, but that person's condition was not known.

"Once again, Dallas is at the precipice, looking into the hell of heartbreak as our police department was attacked this afternoon", Rawlings said at a news conference.

According to a report in Heavy.com, Juarez's relative said he is now unemployed but he previously worked alongside his father as a bricklayer and a forklift operator.

Police have arrested 29-year-old Armando Luis Juarez on charges of aggravated assault on a police officer and felony theft.

Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall, at a press conference, asked everyone to pray for the victims and their families. "Our hearts are very heavy". The shooting reportedly took place around 4:11 p.m. local time.

The two police officers were called to the store to help an off-duty officer with removing the man from the store.

Juarez is to be considered and risky, Hall said, adding that it is unclear "how he was able to get a gun and shoot all three of the victims".

Reports said the wounded include a male officer and a female officer.
