White Sox pitcher Danny Farquhar has use of his extremities and is responding to questions and commands after undergoing brain surgery this weekend, the team announced Monday.

Williams said that Farquhar was a fighter and that he was going through the fight of his life at this time. "They had to do another surgery, cracking his skull open, and putting a clamp on it".

The White Sox VP said that both Farquhar's wife and mother attended the game on Friday and when they reached the team's clubhouse, he was inside an ambulance on the way to the hospital.

It remains unknown whether or not Farquhar will be able to play professional baseball again, but considering nearly half of those who suffer ruptured brain aneurysms don't make it - he's fortunate to be alive.

The team also noted the player is in "critical, but neurologically stable condition".

"Nothing really matters as far as baseball goes right now", White Sox pitcher James Shields said.

Farquhar suffered a hemorrhage in the sixth inning of Friday's game, and was rushed to the hospital after passing out in the dugout.

"It was insane. I was just sitting by myself at my locker not knowing how I was supposed to feel".

"I tried to write his name on the mound, but with the dirt it wasn't very well seen. He's such a resilient human being, and we're praying for him".

"He's that guy everyone likes to be around", Farquhar's agent, Sohail Shahpar, told USA Today. But the focus is on Farquhar's health and sending prayers for him, his wife Alexandria and their three young children, Madison, Landon and Luam. "It's not that he's the life of a party, or has this big personality, he's just the type of person that's like family".
