Bergeron-less Bruins proving they're far deeper than they get credit for

Bergeron, who was a late scratch Thursday due to an upper-body injury, was back out on the ice at Warrior Arena Friday morning - earning some reps with fellow forward Brian Gionta while the rest of the team spent the day off the ice.

Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy told reporters on Bergeron after practice that he's "not ruling him out" for Saturday's Game 5 against the Leafs at TD Garden. The Toronto forward, who was third on the team with 32 goals in the regular season, just finished serving a three-game suspension that he was handed after Game 1 of their first-round series against the Boston Bruins.

Cassidy said the fact the Bruins lead the series 3-1 will have no bearing on Saturday's decision-making process.

But if Bergeron misses a second straight game, the Bruins are unlikely to adjust their lineup.

Plekanec was effective in keeping the Bruins' top line of Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak off the board in Game 3 and registered an assist. One key reason for that: the play of Riley Nash, elevated to the No. 1 center chair between Marchand and David Pastrnak. "Away from the puck, we need to correct a few things from keeping it of our net".

Boston Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask (40) looks for the puck as Boston Bruins defenseman Nick Holden (44) and Toronto Maple Leafs centre Tyler Bozak (42) battle in front of his net during third period NHL round one playoff hockey action in Toronto on Monday, April 16, 2018. The Capitals were able to reverse course and get two road wins of their own, including a 4-1 win in Game 4 on Thursday night. Alex Ovechkin and Evgeny Kuznetsov each had a goal and an assist for Washington, which took both games in Columbus after replacing Philipp Grubauer with Braden Holtby in goal.

"I felt like liberty had been taken on (Mitch) Marner", Kadri said. Game 7, if necessary, goes Wednesday in Boston. Jake DeBrusk was whistled for hooking late in the period and Toronto headed to the powerplay and the Bruins desperately needed a huge penalty kill. We just have to counter it with some better checking and adjustments in terms of their transition game that we have discussed and done a good job. The four-time victor of the award given to the league's best defensive forward was the Bruins' third-leading scorer this season with 30 goals and 33 assists.

Some drama escalated on the rink when Flyers player Radko Gudas did his best to push some buttons for Penguins player, Sidney Crosby. To me, if you're these players and you've seen that, you want to see it again. Rinne allowed four goals on 15 shots.

Auston Matthews scored the victor on a setup from William Nylander in Game 3, but both have been held off the scoresheet otherwise.

"We had a breakaway and a 2-on-1, and we got nothing on it".

"I'm assuming he thought he would come tonight and dominate the game - that's what I thought", the coach said. He has five assists in three games so far this year during the Stanley Cup Playoffs. "I said, 'I don't know what I'm doing, but what if I do this?" "We can be better, like I said".
