Shenmue I & II are available for pre-order from the first-party retailer with pre-orders opening on Steam and other U.S. and EMEA retailers soon.

If Shenmue III passing its Kickstarter and getting a full release wasn't enough, we are now getting Shenmue I & II remastered in all its glory for the next gen.

YouTuber Adam Koralik released a video today with additional information about the upcoming Shenmue I & Shenmue II HD collection coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC later this year following a chance to check out the titles with SEGA in Japan. The compilation comes with a host of modern features, including "fully scalable screen resolution, choice of modern or classic control schemes, PC graphics options, an updated user interface, and the option to enjoy either the original Japanese or English voiceovers".

Sega explained in a statement to VG247 that they "tried to stay as close to the original feature sets in each game as possible" so the Shenmue 1 remaster won't give players the ability to fast-forward the in-game clock in order to get to major story events right away. One of these is definitely the mechanics that allowed to fast forward the time in the second chapter, absent in the first chapter Shenmue and also in its HD version. Pre-orders for the re-release are already live, but a final release date has yet to be announced. The Shenmue collection will receive both a physical and digital release.
