The leaders are 16 points clear of second-placed United and a defeat for Jose Mourinho's men against West Bromwich Albion on Sunday would see City take the trophy.

'I will be so happy, but I think United going to win [against West Brom]. Incredible. What they lived the other week was so unfair.

Where do you think City need to strengthen for next season's Champions League campaign?

The 23-year-old, who has been nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year, was criticised for missing chances in the defeat by United and also wasted opportunities against Spurs before smashing home from close range in the 72nd minute.

It was a win that saw City move back to the top of the table, but more crucially it was a significant result and performance at the home of the club that had dominated the Premier League the previous season.

Despite blowing the chance to win the league against United last weekend, City still matched United's record by claiming the title with five games to spare.

Television cameras captured the moment the Belgian discovered he was a three-time champion but, after an initial burst of excitement, he was focusing on the potential for even more success. "For him, for the boys, it's fantastic and today he certainly didn't look like he doesn't want to score in the next few games". Guardiola has regularly noted his club's lack of pedigree in the Champions League, but over-wrought tactical tweaks in high-pressure knockout games have become a complex of his own. City were at their thrilling best as they devastated the visitors, and the only surprise was that with 20 minutes remaining, they only led through Ilkay Gundogan's header.

Premier League decided against using the technology after the shareholders meeting on Friday.

"We all believed", said Kompany.

West Brom's official Twitter account tweeted "you're welcome" to Manchester City, while its fans at Old Trafford sang: "We've won you the league, Manchester City, we've won you the league".

However, they now enjoy a 6-point cushion over Southampton thanks to a thrilling 3-2 win over Brighton at Selhurst Park with Wilfried Zaha scoring twice.

City let slip a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 in the Manchester derby on 7 April, when victory would have clinched the title. If, at the end, we are not able and United win the league, all we can say is congratulations United, reflect on what we have done bad in the last month and move forward.
