Predicting The First Round Of The NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs Video

April hosts the Stanley Cup Playoffs and this year Hulu announced a new marketing partnership with the National Hockey League to bring more games, to more fans. That's right, I didn't stutter. This is the one that solidifies an opportunity to be one of those 16 playoff teams, and now the page turns really quickly. Crosby recalls more fights between the teams in the past - he was involved in two six years ago in the game he swatted Voracek's glove away - but doesn't want to downplay the intensity of this rivalry.

Another fun team to cheer for would be the surprisingly successful Vegas Golden Knights. Not bad for a team whose odds of winning the Stanley Cup went against them 500-1 at the start of the season.

There are so many headlines heading into these playoffs: Will Washington finally overcome their playoff failures? How they respond to the bright lights and raised intensity of the playoffs, does add intrigue.

Colorado Avalanche vs. Nashville Predators Game 1 - Avalanche at Predators, Thursday, April 12, 9:30 p.m.

The Nashville Predators. While their copycat maneuver with the catfish is worthy of some lowkey shaming, everything about this team is so much fun. Not to mention goalie Pekka Rinne, who is a favorite to win the Vezina Trophy this year.

Boston's top line has dominated opposing teams all season long. The 22-year-old notched four goals and 17 points with the extra man this season.

One in which the erratic Flyers, who endured a 10-game winless streak around Thanksgiving, know they are the underdogs. I am not saying the Washington Capitals are scrubs, but Columbus needed a different opponent in the first round and it might be better mentally for them.

The rest of the simulation has the remarkable story of the Vegas Golden Knights coming to an end, four games to two, to Winnipeg in the Western Conference semifinals.

The Kings core may be the best reason why this team has a chance to win the Stanley Cup.

Snatching up the win against the Senators was Casey DeSmith, who stopped all 35 shots that he faced for his first-career shutout. That year, centers Logan Couture and Joe Pavelski plus defenseman Brent Burns were the team's top three scorers. And here are just a few of them. I think the Sharks have better goaltending in Martin Jones compared to Anaheim's John Gibson and/or Ryan Miller, but the Ducks are more physical and tough than the Sharks are. Right winger Nikita Kucherov is their guy with 39 goals and 61 assists, leading the Lightning in both categories. The pick: Tampa Bay in 5.

Devils forward Taylor Hall made a serious push for the MVP award late in the season, scoring a point in 26 straight games staring January 2 with 11 multi-point games during the streak.

In addition to predicting a Smythe Trophy (playoffs MVP) for Laine, the simulation calls for him to score 15 goals and tally 24 points overall.

We have mostly proven through the years - especially in these days of salary cap-induced parity - be something less than stellar in our choices; fair to middling may be the best description.

From the middle of December to the middle of March, there wasn't a hotter team in the league than the Boston Bruins.

Why the Devils won't win it all: They have an impossible bracket to even reach the conference finals. Marc Andre-Fleury went 29-13-4, but allowed six goals on 18 shots in a season-ending 7-1 loss at Calgary. They're meeting a Maple Leafs team anchored by a young dynamic trio of Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, and William Nylander. The Red Wings swept both the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Montreal Canadiens that year, and Detroit fans have thrown octopi ever since. Most impressively, Matthews missed 20 games this season due to injury and was still able to record 34 goals. If ranking teams 1 through 8 in each conference like the old format that was in place from 1993-94 through 2013, the No. 2 seed is facing the No. 4 seed, 3 versus 7, and 5 versus 6 in the first round in the East and the West this year. He could find a way to pull off this upset.
