Buhari mourns Senator Bukar

Family sources said Bukar died on Wednesday morning after a brief illness.

"I am always touched by the death of dedicated and creative public servants like Senator Bukar".

The lawmaker's younger brother, Alhaji Kanta Bukar, disclosed that he died at the Nizamiye Hospital, Abuja, in the early hours of Wednesday, April 4, 2018.

Bukar was survived by two wives and 12 children, including Ibrahim Bukar of the Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC).

Before his death, Bukar was President Muhammadu Buhari's senator as he represented the President's senatorial district.


"As a first-time lawmaker, Senator Bukar stood out for the quality of his contributions on the floor, his pragmatism and his work to strengthen the institution of the legislature".

TheNewsGuru.com reports that Bukar's death is coming barely a week after the death of a reps member representing Lokoja/Kogi/Koton Karfe, Umar Buba Jibril.

He was a member of Institute of Civil Engineers, Council of Registered Engineers of Nigeria, Nigerian Society of Engineers, American Waterwork Association.

Buhari commiserated with the government and people of Katsina State and the National Assembly on the passing away of Bukar.

"Senator Bukar was so dedicated to his responsibilities and hardworking that he got an appointment with the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, where he also demonstrated the same dedication and passion for service", the President said.
