Chelsea and United to go head to head for Alderweireld

It has prompted Roberto Martinez to warn Alderweireld that his starting place for his national team is under threat if he remains out of favour.

Pochettino is unmoved by potential World Cup heartbreak.

Which means Alderweireld will be set to remain on the bench for Sunday's trip to Chelsea. He's not the most physical defender around, nor the quickest, but in terms of reading the game and timing tackles, Alderweireld really stands out.

Arsenal may be Tottenham's bitterest London rivals, but in the last six years, few clubs have done as much damage to Spurs' ambitions as Chelsea.

"Yes, I think they have started before us", Conte said when asked if the Tottenham project is ahead of Chelsea's.

"I think that every manager wants to win a trophy". I need to care for my club, and we have plenty of worldwide players.

Both teams are looking to secure a top-four finish to ensure participation in next season's Champions League.

"Kane is a very important player for them, that's for sure".

A record of four defeats from their last six top-flight games is not an encouraging one for the team from the capital.

"We are talking about a player coming back from a bad injury - seven months without playing". I am not going to change the system [to three centre-backs] because Toby needs to play in the World Cup and he needs to play [at Tottenham].

He managed 90 minutes for country during the global break. Like everyone. It's the same situation with different players, like Moussa Sissoko.

Easily one of the most exciting players in the Premier League, the Belgian is setting the standard for attacking players and is a joy to watch when in full flow.

"What can I do?" I can not play with more than 11 and you need to chose. "If he keeps working hard, he is going to have the opportunity to play and compete". He is an experienced player. "Every day he is improving", said Pochettino. "That is enough, no?" Real Madrid, PSG and Manchester United are all keen to sign the defender.

Tottenham are once again expected to be without midfielder Harry Winks through injury.

Alderweireld has endured a torrid five-months, during which he has had hamstring problems and made only two appearances for the club. However, triggering that option would also include a release clause which could see him leave for the aforementioned £25m, well under market value.
