McPartlin's publicist then said the star would be taking time out from his TV commitments, while the remaining episodes of Saturday Night Takeaway would be hosted solo by Donnelly.

Show regulars Scarlett Moffatt and Stephen Mulhern will also take on greater presenting roles.

This historic live episode saw Declan Donnelly host Saturday Night Takeaway (ITV) without partner Anthony McPartlin, who has returned to rehab following his recent drink-driving charge.

"Back in studio today preparing your #SaturdayNightTakeaway for tomorrow night".

STEPHEN Merchant congratulated Dec on his baby news as he joked the only reason he's not Ant's replacement is due to their height difference.

They told The Sun newspaper: "Obviously it means Ant will still be on the show in some form".

"The bosses are torn in regards to how they can hit the right tone".

The 42-year-old has been charged with the offence and will appear in court next week.

"They want to be respectful. while not bringing down the mood of the show. But Dec is professional and is determined to do a good job".

The source added that producers are anxious that a "sombre start" will affect the show, as it is all meant to be about having fun.

The ongoing sketches, which include Joanna Lumley, Michael Sheen, Emilia Fox and David Walliams, see Ant and Dec trying to discover who has been stealing some of the nation's best loved TV and media personalities.

Dec will be the only live presenter in this weekend's Saturday Night Takeaway.

Saturday Night Takeaway bosses kept Ant McPartlin in the opening credits of tonight's, but viewers were left baffled when Dec failed to mention him in his introduction.

"We made a promise to take hundreds of deserving winners to Florida to watch the series finale, and we will honour that".
