Playboy, Elon Musk delete Facebook pages in wake of data scandal

Facebook has also made it easier to download all of the information that users have uploaded to the website.

The updates include easier access to Facebook's user settings and tools to easily search for, download and delete personal data stored by Facebook.

Chris Golds from LBC London News was speaking to Emily Sharpe from Facebook's Privacy and Policy team about the new settings they are releasing following the Cambridge Analytica scandal.

The crisis began on March 16 after Facebook (FB) said it was suspending data analysis company Cambridge Analytica for allegedly harvesting data from more than 50 million Facebook users.

In its first step to try and restore confidence in its platform after the Cambridge Analytica fiasco, Facebook has unveiled more organized privacy settings and a new data management tool called "Access Your Information". Facebook offers privacy feature like two-factor authentication, menu to control ads that you see, manage who sees your posts and who can not.

"Last week showed how much more work we needed to do to enforce our policies and help people understand how Facebook works and the choices they have over their data".

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has written a letter to Facebook seeking information over the issue of data leak from the platform of the social media giant.

Yet mobile users still had to go to almost 20 different places to access all of their privacy controls.

A lot of the Facebook privacy changes have been in the works for some time, according to the social network, but the recent privacy scandal has forced the company to push these updates to the top of their lists.

The new home devices are part of Facebook's plan to become more intimately involved with users' everyday social lives, using artificial intelligence - following a path forged by Inc. and its Echo in-home smart speakers.

Under the general settings page on Facebook, click on the "Download a copy of your Facebook data".

From here you will be dig down into a particular category and delete any information that you wish. Users can turn on additional security measures like two-factor authentication, manage information used for Facebook ads and adjust who sees posts and information on profiles.

The new controls also better spell out what data the company collects and how it's used.
