Addressing a press conference at National Stadium, Peshawar Zalmi captain Darren Sammy said that we are here to defend our title and we have planned a strategy to tackle the players of Islamabad United.

On the same tour, terrorists attacked the Sri Lanka team convoy at Lahore that March.

Spectators had to use a shuttle service before walking more than a kilometer to go through two security checkpoints. Six Pakistan policemen and two civilians were killed, and six members of the Sri Lanka team were injured.

Despite the encouraging signs, some of the PSL's top stars preferred not to play in Pakistan, including Quetta Gladiators batsman Kevin Pietersen who appeared to announce his retirement instead.

The size of the stadium was extended for 1987's World Cup when three worldwide matches were played.

Addressing a press conference at National Stadium, Islamabad United Captain J.P Duminy said that it is a very great moment to play in Pakistan. After the first 31 matches were played in Dubai and Sharjah, the PSL moved to Lahore on Tuesday, when Peshawar beat Quetta in the first eliminator and then ousted the Karachi Kings in the second. "I simply can't describe my excitement in words, I just want the final to begin".

At least 8,000 security personnel that also included armed soldiers guard the 27,000 capacity National Stadium.

In bilateral battles, Islamabad United also have a slight edge over Peshawar Zalmi as out of 7 encounters between them, the former won 4 matches and suffered defeat in 3.

According to a tweet on Saturday, Strings Band, Ali Zafar, Shahzad Roy, Farhan Saeed and Aima Baig will perform during the closing ceremony.

As well as the final in Karachi, both eliminators were held in Lahore this week - a step forward from previous year, when only the final was held on Pakistani soil.

National Stadium, which once was home to global cricket events, has now, after a long break, seen a new wave of cricket revival.

Karachi will also host three Twenty20 internationals between Pakistan and the West Indies in early April, the first home series involving a Test-level team since 2009.
