Just in time for the Academy Awards, an unsubtle reminder of the sexual violence allegedly perpetrated by Oscar-winning film producer Harvey Weinstein has appeared on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The piece, entitled "Casting Couch", is this year's Oscar statue created by street artists Plastic Jesus (who does not give his name) and Joshua "Ginger" Monroe, who, if you recall, is known for his 2016 sculptures of President Trump in the nude.

The golden statue, called "Casting Couch", features a man that looks an terrible lot like Weinstein wearing a bathrobe.

Meanwhile, Weinstein Companywhich the Hollywood producer co-owned with his brother Bob Weinstein was sold to a female-led group, reported The BBC. It shows Weinstein seated regally atop a couch with an Oscar in hand.

The statue followed the appearance in Los Angeles on Wednesday of billboards designed by street artist Sabo that accused the entertainment industry of staying silent about sexual misconduct. "It's clearly been going on", he said. It is called the "Casting Couch". "I chose the piece "Casting Couch" to do this year because I think a lot of people thought the casting couch was a thing of the past, of the 20's and 30's and 40's in Hollywood, but clearly until recently, and even now, it is still alive and well". He's holding an Oscar statuette right next to his crotch and has casually draped an arm along the backside of a chaise lounge while waiting for someone to join him.

Plastic Jesus said the life-sized sculpture took two months to create.

It will be on display this weekend, weather permitting.

Ben Brafman is one of the US' top criminal defence attorneys, hired by the disgraced Hollywood mogul whose career is in tatters following accusations of sexual harassment, assault and rape. Weinstein has "unequivocally denied" all claims, but is being investigated by police over the allegations.
