The new game mode included with the update is Infected, a popular mode from previous games. What you do get in the box though is a fantastic return to form for Call of Duty with a solid multiplayer that will hopefully grow and evolve in future map pack updates. The new update takes care of a few bugs, as well as adding a new map, new multiplayer mode and other features to the three-year-old shooter.

Last year's entry in the Call of Duty series brought the series back to a historical setting.

And since Modern Warfare 3, there has been a set rhythm to how the development process of the games works. Even in the face of what will reportedly be the next Black Ops game coming later this year, Treyarch continues to update Black Ops III.

The original reports come from self-styled industry insider Marcus Sellars - whose track record is patchy at best when it comes to leaks, with parts of the leak being verified by Eurogamer. The image of the GameStop listings were sent by a tipster to CharlieIntel, a famous "Call of Duty" breaking news site. Activision posted the official patch notes on the support website.

Activision has yet to formally announce or confirm anything regarding this year's "Call of Duty" title, perhaps waiting for the Electronic Entertainment Expo in June to make a formal announcement. The map is a wintry version of the map, called "Redwood Snow". One player is randomly chosen at the start of a match as the first infected, and has to try to infect other players, who respawn as infected themselves.
