NY college on lockdown due to 'credible' threat

Utica College remains on lockdown, however police say they will soon begin to release students and staff.

"At this time there is no substantiation to any reports of an active shooter or shots fired on the campus", he added, as police continued to investigate. If you are sheltered in place, you will be evacuated and escorted to a safe location.

Utica College received two phone calls to the Gordon Science center on Monday at about 11am that threatened to 'take some sort of action'. Police completed a search of the building and determined the the students, school and staff were safe. the lockdown was lifted.

State police, the Oneida County Sheriff's Office and Utica City Police were dispatched to the campus.


The college and Utica City Police later said there had been no confirmation of shots or any injuries.

Utica College, a private university, is located about 52 miles east of Syracuse and has about 4,400 students-undergraduate and postgraduate. "Please follow all instructions", the college tweeted. "Please continue to shelter in place". "Please stay where you are until directed by law enforcement", the school tweeted after 12 p.m. on Monday.
