Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku wants 'more respect'

Disregarding the fact that Jose Mourinho demoted their fixture against Chelsea to the ranks of "any normal game" a little while back, the performances displayed by either team stood on equal footing, although the Portuguese enjoyed the three points at the end of the clash.

United were getting on top and Lingard had been on for only a few minutes when he headed in a flawless curling cross from the right by Lukaku, whose performance added to Chelsea's frustration at not having secured his return from Everton in the close-season.

Shrugging off his tag as a so-called "flat-track bully", Lukaku scored the equaliser, set up Jesse Lingard for the second-half victor and delivered a mature, hard-working all-round display as United came from behind to beat the champions 2-1 at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Goals from Romelu Lukaku and Jesse Lingard cancelled out Willian's opener and gave the Red Devils a crucial victory over their top four rivals at Old Trafford on Sunday, 25 February. He works hard, he scores and crosses. "That will go a long way to deciding it but I think United will come out on top overall this season".

However, the visitors weren't in front for long as their former striker, Romelu Lukaku, equalised. "We have a history, we have an image, and I'm really happy with that".

"We managers always want the perfection", Mourinho said. "It's not going to be easy but it's a nice challenge". Year in, year out, people expect 20 goals from me.

"Don't you guys think we should organise one in the Premier League". I don't listen to it.

"I just want to improve".

When asked what he must to do to receive the respect he believes he deserves, Lukaku said: "If I win. I think we are a very good team but there are some other good teams around us as well".

"But I think it's 50/50 now because Liverpool are playing better, United will scratch results out, City are gone, Tottenham are playing better".

Aside from a disappointing spell at Chelsea, Lukaku has been a regular scorer during his career - impressing with West Bromwich Albion and Everton before joining United last summer.

"No, no, no", he said.

"When I make a choice, it's with my head and my heart", Lukaku said. We've been second for near enough the whole season, so we're within our rights to make sure we do finish in that position.

Conte added: "You wanted to see the shake hands and we did this".
