Other specifications of the Asus Zenfone 5Z are 12MP +12MP rear camera with 1.4µm pixel size.

Asus also has a more powerful version of the device, called the ZenFone 5Z, but we didn't get to see that one during the pre-brief - we'll update this article when we get its specs.

As far as a ZenFone 5Z release date, we've only got "later in the year" for the United Kingdom release date.

Asus Zenfone 5Z, Zenfone 5 and the Zenfone 5 Lite were revealed earlier today at the ongoing Mobile World Congress. Asus is one of the first few Android smartphone makers to draw inspiration from Apple's notch design, with the Zenfone 5Z and the Zenfone 5 embracing the notch. ASUS claims that the Zenfone 5Z with its notch design achieves a screen-to-body-ratio of 90 per cent, which is impressive, considering the iPhone X's 82.9 per cent ratio.

Next up is the Zenfone 5 which is strikingly like the iPhone X and the announcer wasn't shy about making comparisons. Crafted as an aluminum unibody smartphone, the Zenfone 5 is expected to be powered by the mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC paired with 3GB of RAM. Asus ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 5Z boast an all-screen display and AI capabilities.

The company also unveiled Zenfone Max (M1) and Max Plus (M1) at the event.

The Zenfone 5 Lite has a 2160x1080 pixel screen resolution filling its 6-inch screen, which has an 80.3 percent screen-to-body ratio. The phone comes running Android 8.0 Oreo, Asus Zen UI 5.0 running on top.

Asus in total launched five phones including three Zenfone 5 series handsets that come with iPhone X like design. Without the notch, the display has 18:9 aspect ration, but with the notch, it goes to 19:9. Combined with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, the ZenFone 5Z delivers accelerated AI experiences, as well as breathtaking performance combined with outstanding energy efficiency for long-lasting battery life.

Asus is also offering a slightly cheaper model called the Asus Zenfone 5, although there's no official pricing confirmed for this model. They also didn't hesitate in mimicking the back of the iPhone X either, by precisely placing their dual camera setup in a vertical alignment at the top left corner.

This phone uses a quad-cam setup with two front-facing sensors and two rear-facing selfie shooters. On the front, the smartphone comes packed with an 8-megapixel resolution coupled with an f/2.0 aperture and 84-degree field of view. The Wi-Fi is 2×2 802.11 ac Wi-Fi, and it has Bluetooth 5 connectivity.

The Zenfone 5 Lite is a bit different from its cousins.

The Asus ZenFone 5 is powered by a Snapdragon 636 processor with eight 14nm cores, two of which are Qualcomm's custom Kryo cores.

Switching back to the device's hardware, under the hood, you'll find a Snapdragon 630 processor with 4 or 6GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and a 3300mAh battery. More simply, it will come down to whether you've ever considered what it is like to run Android apps on an iPhone.

Beyond the processor, the Zenfone 5 has almost the same set of specifications as the Zenfone 5Z.

ZeniMoji is a fun new ZenFone 5 feature that lets users animate cute avatars using their own voice, facial expressions and head movements. One will be a standard 20MP sensor while the other has a 120-degree wide-angle lens.
