"This will continue to be a very hard forecast over the next couple of days".

But those flurries depend on cold air chasing the moisture in the area, and "at this time (it) looks like it may not catch up in time to see any snow", the weather service said Thursday.

Today - A slight chance of rain and snow showers before 1 p.m, then a slight chance of snow showers after 2 p.m. Again, residents are asked to use caution while driving to work or school.

Overall, you can expect a Coating to about 2 inches of snow on the ground by 7 or 8AM.

The alert - issued by the city, not the National Weather Service - doesn't guarantee snow will fall.

Saturday will be dry, partly to mostly sunny and cold.

Snow will return by early Sunday morning

It has been a mostly cloudy and cold day for the majority of Friday.

Tonight: Rain before 3am, then rain and snow between 3am and 4am, then snow after 4am. Southwest winds 5 to 15 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent. Accumulation possible. Highs: Low-mid 30s. The movement of Sunday's snow showers will be north to south across our area, so the best chance to pick-up measurable snow will be areas farther north (like up along US-36).

Forecasters expect mostly cloudy conditions throughout the mid-valley on Friday, with highs around 57. The game is played in the U.S. Bank Stadium which is a covered dome, but during pregame time fans outside will have to deal with single digit temperatures. Winds could gust as high as 21 miles per hour.

Mostly cloudy, with a low around 19. Wind chill values between zero and 10. Highs will be around 20 both days. Low around 37. Southeast wind around 5 miles per hour. South wind 6 to 9 miles per hour.

Although there will be a lot of cloud around the frontal band, Northern Ireland will see brighter skies and sunshine but also a feed of well scattered wintry showers from the NW. South southwest wind around 11 miles per hour. The rain will become steadier for Sunday night and early Monday. Low around 37. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. This rain won't amount to a whole lot - most will see a quarter of an inch of rain or less.
