Big update on Daley Blind future and other deadline day news

Manchester United will not give the go ahead for Daley Blind to move to Roma before the transfer deadline, according to the player's father and agent Danny Blind.

Speaking about Roma's interest, Danny told La Roma24: "Right now, the time is running out, because it's the last day of the window".

Manchester United have reportedly received an enquiry for out of favour defender Daley Blind from Serie A club AS Roma.

"It's really hard [to negotiate a move] because Manchester United want to keep him to play in the Champions League, the Premier League and the FA Cup".

The Dutchman has slipped to third choice at left back, and down to sixth choice at centre back this season, making just five appearances in the Premier League this season. "The price is good, but the negotiations are hard".

He was an immediate hit for United, with his intelligent play seeing him establish himself in a defensive midfield role.

The Dutchman has played in all of Manchester United's UEFA Champions League matches this season - and hence will be ineligible for the Romans in that competition if he does make the switch.

"[Manager Jose] Mourinho wants to keep this group together".

This is probably a sensible assignment for a player with limited - yet unquestionable - ability, but with his contract set to expire at the end of this season and plenty of years still ahead of him, Blind may feel like his current quota of games isn't enough and seek a move elsewhere. "It would take a few days or even weeks but we only have few hours so it's really hard".

After signing Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal in exchange for Henrikh Mkhitaryan and allowing Axel Tuanzebe join Aston Villa on loan, Jose Mourinho insisted there would be no more transfer business this month.
