Friday's incident is the second death aboard a Carnival Cruise Lines ship in recent months.

WVUE-TV reported that Carnival's CARE Team was providing support and assistance to the guest's family.

The Carnival Triumph was scheduled to be replaced at Carnival's New Orleans' port by May 2019 by the bigger Carnival Valor, which now makes its home port in Galveston, Texas, according to the New Orleans Advocate.

Citing passenger privacy concerns, Carnival was unable to say where the woman lives. Further details were not yet available.

He added that Carnival Cruise Line had notified Bahamian law enforcement, the FBI, and other law agencies, and that the company is "assisting these agencies as the investigation continues".

A search is now underway for a woman who went overboard the Carnival Triumph cruise ship which is based out of New Orleans. That ship left Jacksonville on Thursday and was heading for the Bahamas.
