Google Play audiobook offers might be coming really soon

For the initial audiobook buyers, Google may also offer some major discounts.

Some users have actually seen a banner on their Google Play Store, announcing that audiobooks are now available to be purchased for your mobile device and on your laptop or desktop.

Further reports indicate that aside from expanding the capabilities of the Google Play Store, this move to include audiobooks is expected to go head to head against Amazon's market, especially the two tech giants are in the middle of a war on smart devices. 9to5Google is reporting that the company has begun advertising audiobooks, and that a user's first audiobook purchase will be 50 percent off. There is no official confirmation from Google Play about audio books being added to the collection or when exactly that may be happening.

However, "at the time of publishing, that link doesn's work and simply 404's, but it seems to be appearing for all users both on the web and within the Google Play app on Android", the report said.

Google Play has always been viewed as a go-to place for apps, games, movies, TV shows, music, books, comics and more. Thanks to some eagled-eyed work from 9to5Google, it looks like the Big G may soon be getting in the digital tome game. From our point of view, the audiobooks on Google Play Store will set new benchmarks not only for reading enthusiasts but also book lovers. All the reports suggest that, the giant will soon come up with this dedicated Audiobooks section on the Play Store sometime this quarter.

In addition, it appears that the roll-out of the Google audiobooks is not global as the banner is only visible to Android users in the U.S., United Kingdom and Australia, according to AndroidHeadlines.

Meanwhile, several companies have recently been improving support for audiobooks. Audiobooks and ebooks will be split into separate tabs, according to changes made in the app's code.
