Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Dortmund celebrates after scoring his team's second goal during the DFB Cup final match between Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund at Olympiastadion on May 27, 2017 in Berlin, Germany.

Dortmund have been getting exhausted of Aubameyang's antics and despite scoring 21 goals in 23 appearances this season, he was left out of the squad against Wolfsburg at the weekend.

However, while Pierre Emerick Aubameyang has been in fine form for Dortmund, it looks like Los Blancos may end up losing out on the striker with Arsenal coming close to a move, which includes French star Olivier Giroud going the other way.

"Aubameyang's disruptive reputation set off some alarm bells inside the Emirates, but it is understood Mislintat, who worked as a scout at Dortmund for 10 years, has given the Gabon global a positive character reference", Matt Law said in his report for the Telegraph.

Gabon worldwide Aubameyang has always been linked with a move away from Dortmund, with the likes of Real Madrid and Premier League champions Chelsea thought to have been interested in the past.

And Arsene Wenger has also been linked with a deal for Bordeaux forward Malcom.

It is the third time Aubameyang has been disciplined by the club after an unauthorised video shoot at Dortmund's training ground last November and a trip to Milan shortly before a Champions League game last season.

Once again, Aubameyang has been on fire in front of goal for the Bundesliga club.

Arsenal are said to have stepped-up their pursuit of the player after receiving assurances from Sven Mislintat, Arsenal's new head of recruitment who previously worked for Dortmund, about Aubameyang's attitude.

Wenger has held reservations about the 28-year-old, but Mislinstat believes Aubameyang will respond to a change in environment.

Stoger said: "It was a relatively important session that he stayed away from, which showed me that he is not so focused".
