What's cool is that Blizzard is letting players of the game purchase skins for their favorite teams, so they can represent them online. In total, that's technically 312 new color variant skins available; one for each hero per team's color scheme.

"Given Overwatch's consistent reign as a top-viewed game by our community, we look forward to offering their pioneering style of league play to a large and passionate fan base that will be able to bond over not only their favourite plays, but hometown pride".

The tab will also include the new Overwatch League skins.

The news was revealed during the Overwatch League opening conference, however they've not revealed any specific time for when this new update will go live into the game.

"Blizzard has cut it fine by announcing Twitch as its streaming partner for the Overwatch League just a day before the start of the competition in Los Angeles on 10 January", said Piers Harding-Rolls, head of games research at analyst IHS Markit.

It's pretty easy to watch the matches every week live, but it requires you to get the Overwatch League app. There are also exclusive interviews and videos to enjoy exclusively through the Overwatch League app, so it's a must-have for fans.

Of course, you can expect a season two a year from now that will bring with it improvements and new additions. Overwatch publisher Activision-Blizzard's in-house platform MLG.tv will show half of the regular-season contests, but the dominant share of the audience will come via Twitch, which will stream in Korean, English and French everywhere except China.

Most of these features are already available on the Overwatch League website, but it's good to have them in more places.

The deal is not a surprise considering that Twitch and Blizzard have a long history of collaborating for esports events. Twelve teams, comprising of professional Overwatch players from all across the world, will compete for the first Overwatch League championship title, where finals will be held in July 2018. If you're lucky enough to be in the Los Angeles area, you can actually get tickets to see the matches go down in person at the Blizzard Arena.
