Trump, 71, denounced the book in a press conference on Saturday as "fiction", after affirming on Twitter earlier in the day that he's "a very stable genius" with an impressive resume.

Wolff went so far as to raise the spectre of the 25th Amendment to the US Constitution, in which a president's cabinet could attempt to remove him from office for being unable to perform his duties, although experts said that amendment was designed with the idea of a president being incapacitated by, for example, a coma.

White House officials said their records showed that Mr. Wolff had last talked to the president in February, but Mr. Wolff said he had talked to the president several times after that. He also lauded Trump as a "political genius".

President Trump applauded 32-year-old Stephen Miller for completing the two-pronged mission of going on CNN and yelling at Jake Tapper for the network's Trump coverage - while criticizing the president's newest enemy, Steve Bannon, as well.

"The President's tweets absolutely reaffirm the plainspoken truth: A self-made billionaire revolutionized reality TV and tapped into something magical that's happening in the hearts of this country", Miller said.

"I'm with him nearly every day", Mr. Pompeo said on "Fox News Sunday".

In the book, Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, by Michael Wolff, Bannon said Trump had "lost his stuff", and he described the meeting with Russians attended by Donald Trump jnr and the president's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, as potentially treasonous.

Miller tried to counter Wolff's portrayal of what Trump is like to what the aide personally encountered when traveling with the candidate and now president. Ronald Reagan had the same problem and handled it well. They would say. we're not at 25th Amend level yet.

British Prime Minister Theresa May dismissed concerns about Mr Trump's mental state after the book's publication, saying the President would still be visiting the United Kingdom in the future. Bannon referred to a 2016 meeting between Donald Trump Jr and a Russian Federation lawyer at Trump Tower as "treasonous" and suggested that it was highly likely that Trump Jr told his father about the meeting. So, he's not a remotely credible source on any of it.

"I think I have wasted enough of my viewers' time", Tapper said, before cutting Miller's microphone.

About halfway through the interview, things really got heated as Miller continued to dodge Tapper's questions.

"It was a very testy interview", Kurtz admitted before reading President's Trump's tweeted response to Tapper, and adding that Trump was obviously watching. He urged his followers to "watch the hatred and unfairness of this CNN flunky!"
