Oakland Raiders head coach Jon Gruden (L) greets Raiders running back Charlie Garner after Garner ran an 80-yard, fourth-quarter touchdown against the New York Jets at the AFC playoffs, 12 January 2002, in Oakland, California.

Gruden, who began his coaching career with the Raiders in 1998, will replace Jack Del Rio, who was sacked following a season-ending loss to the Los Angeles Chargers that capped a disappointing 6-10 campaign. He was traded by the Raiders to Tampa Bay following the 2001 season and beat Oakland for the Super Bowl title the following year. However, prior to that he coached in Oakland for 4 seasons.

Rumors surrounding Gruden and coaching jobs have been swirling for years, but if all goes according to plan, he will be announced on Tuesday.

"We believe the Rooney Rule was complied with". But the National Football League said Friday that the Raiders have complied with the policy in their coaching search. Bisaccia was the special teams coordinator for all seven seasons Gruden was Tampa Bay's head coach.

ESPN's Adam Schefter later confirmed the report. "Minority candidates were interviewed and we will wait and see the decision they make".

The former and future coach of the Raiders will receive a 10-year deal that will pay him about $10 million per year. He was sacked after going 9-7 in 2008 with the Buccaneers, his seventh season with the team.
