Netflix has today announced that David Letterman's upcoming Netflix original talk show will debut on January 12, with former U.S. President Barack Obama as the show's first guest. The first series features six 60-minute episodes in total, each "centered around one extraordinary figure whom Dave finds fascinating".

The former president often appeared on "The Late Show with David Letterman" when Letterman was the host.

My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman premieres Friday, Jan. 12 on Netflix.

The company, home to shows such as House of Cards and Stranger Things, streams to most countries in the world and has a customer base of about 115.6 million. The Netflix release says, "The conversations are intimate, in-depth and far-reaching".

Comedian Stephen Colbert has since replaced Letterman on the "Late Show". Other guests include actor George Clooney, Nobel Prize-winning Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai, rapper Jay-Z, actress Tina Fey and radio personality Howard Stern.

The series will be produced by RadicalMedia (The Fog Of War) and Letterman's own Worldwide Pants studio.

It'll definitely be nice to have Letterman back in any capacity, it's just a shame that we'll have to wait so long between episodes to get another dose of the late night legend.
