The wind chills will drop to -10 to 0 by morning. Make sure you have the pipes, pets, and plants protected.

Today will be partly sunny with a high of 16 and a wind-chill value of zero. These wind chills can cause frostbite in as little as 10 minutes to exposed skin. The weather service says wind chills as low as -25 are possible in parts of northern Indiana. The moon will rise after 5:00pm New Year's Day night. A north wind of 10-12 miles per hour will continue for New Year's Day.

With the Arctic air in place, there are both hard freeze and wind chill warnings tonight. A Wind Chill Advisory will be valid from 1:00am through 12:00pm on Monday for Grundy, Marion, Sequatchie, and Bledsoe, and from midnight through 12:00pm Monday for eastern Polk in TN, and Cherokee, Grah:00am, and Swain in NC. An area of low pressure will skirt offshore Wednesday night, which could bring us some snow showers - possibly minor accumulations. Usually, it's a 2 or 3 day stint, but this go around, we're talking about 7 straight days of 20 degree highs or lower in Boston. And if you haven't already, join us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter and Instagram. Tuesday afternoon will still be very cold with highs struggles to get passed the low 40s. Stay warm and happy in 2018!
