Weather service forecasters say actual air temperatures are expected to fall to -15 degrees on Sunday and Monday nights in parts of central IL.

A wind chill advisory remains in effect until midnight tonight, but then that advisory will be upgraded to a wind chill warning, which will remain in effect from midnight tonight until noon Monday.

A Wind Chill Advisory will be in effect for all of southeast MI from 9 p.m. Sunday through 11 a.m. The expected low is near minus 5, he said, and the frigid wind chills could cause frostbite to exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. And it's only going to get worse later in the day, with temperatures dropping below zero across most of the area while wind chills reach between -15 and -20 degrees.

The arctic air will remain in the region for the upcoming week.

The high on Tuesday is expected to be near 18, with a low of around 6, and chilly temperatures are expected to continue through the week. If you must go outdoors, cover all exposed skin and limit time spent outside.
