"This film was sidelined by the CBFC and it raises question on the Censor Board".

Joshi was present along with the examining committee members and the special panel, which comprised Arvind Singh from Udaipur, Chandramani Singh and Professor K.K. Singh of the Jaipur University.

In what could be a major respite to filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the central board of film certification has agreed to give the film U/A certification only if the makers are ready to do few modification.

The film got stuck in controversy after various Rajput groups alleged that it distorts history, a claim repeatedly denied by the director.

He added that the producers and director had been asked to run a disclaimer saying the movie does not "claim historical accuracy", and that they were "completely in agreement" with the suggestions.

The board also suggested modifications in disclaimers, pertinently adding one regarding not glorifying the practice of "Sati" and also relevant changes in the song "Ghoomar" to befit the character portrayed, the release further stated.

The CBFC had invited historians to review the film since the makers said that it was partially based on facts. "Panel member had insights and also some reservations regarding claimed historical events and socio-cultural aspects which were duly discussed at length", NDTV reported citing a board official.

Other outfits such as the Rajput Sabha and Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena announced they would not let theatres screen the film even with the changes.

We have to see what will Bhansali do finally, while Deepika Padukone, Ranvir Singh and Shahid Kapoor moved to their next projects already but waiting to promote this film.

There have been widespread opposition to the movie ever since it was rumoured that it included objectionable scene between Alauddin Khilji and Rani Padmini.

That apart, they have demanded modification in the "incorrect/misleading reference to historical places", Joshi said.

The Shri Rajput Karni Sena, a fringe outfit that made dire threats against the film's cast and disrupted shooting in January, reacted with caution to the censor board's decision.

There has also been opposition over including the controversial Ghoomar song in the movie.
