Drugs, Gun, Teeth Found on Man Stopped at South Carolina Store

Police were called to the Hyatt Regency - the site of Houston's famous New Year's Eve party - after a man had too much to drink and refused to leave the bar. They also found other weapons in his pickup truck.

An off-duty Houston Police Department officer encountered a man who was acting erratically and belligerent.

The hotel said in a statement to the newspaper they have organized extra security for New Year's Eve. Police found weapons - including an assault rifle and a shotgun - and ammunition. The man faces charges of unauthorized carrying of weapons.

The hotel is scheduled to host a New Years Eve celebration with live music and a 50,000 balloon drop at midnight, according to its website. A hotel employee said the party was still on despite the "disturbance".

Senties earlier Sunday that it was an active investigation but "kudos to our officers because they actually prevented what could have been a pretty unsafe situation tonight".

The Las Vegas attack, the deadliest mass shooting in modern USA history, reignited a debate on gun control in the USA, where the Second Amendment of the Constitution guarantees citizens "the right to keep and bear arms".

Houston police and security went to his room to collect his belongings, where they found ammunition all over the room, local NBC affiliate KPRC reported.
