Christmas tree recycling options in LaGrange

City of Charlottesville curbside trash or recycling service customers may place Christmas trees at the curb for collection the week of January 8.

Last year, more than 8,000 Christmas trees were collected in Orleans Parish and airlifted by Louisiana National Guard helicopters into the Bayou Sauvage National Wildlife Refuge as part of a program to create new marsh habitat. ALL ornaments, plastic wrap, and tree stands must be removed. "If you're a Monday customer and that's your regular day, we're going to come on Tuesday, we'll come one day later that first week". To promote recycling and prevent unnecessary fires the city has offered drop-off locations for trees within in the city.

Drop off sites are for City of Lafayette residential citizens only. These items could severely damage the tub grinder used to chip the trees into compost. Trees will not be accepted from commercial haulers or tree vendors without prior approval.

Rohnert Park residents can have their trees picked up on their regular collection day the weeks of January 8-Jan. 19.

For more information on the tree pickup schedule or any other services public works provides, call the department at 454-1768.

Clinton: The Clinton County Area Solid Waste Agency will once again accept individual real or natural Christmas trees for no cost to Clinton County residents.

Christmas tree recycling saves valuable landfill space. Cabela's has a sign set up in the right-hand corner of its parking lot to direct people on where to drop their trees.

Separate trucks will pickup Christmas trees.

To participate in the program, residents are asked to place their undecorated trees on the curb in front of their homes. After they're collected, they'll be ground into mulch.

The nice list - or recyclables - includes: gift boxes, tissue paper, shoe boxes, Christmas trees, holiday cards and envelops, gift bags (paper only), and wrapping paper (non-metallic).
